How it works

What an industrial dust collector is and how to choose one

An industrial dust collector draws in air contaminated with particles, retains the dust in a filter element and returns clean air. In cartridge models, compressed-air pulse cleaning (Pulse-Jet) removes the accumulated dust and keeps the filter working for longer.

The right choice depends on the type of particulate (grinding dust, welding fume, cutting residue, etc.), the required airflow and whether the operation is occasional or continuous. TREAL offers standard filters from 1 to 20 cartridges and custom-engineered larger ones, tables with built-in collection, and removable drawers and waste drums for material disposal.

If your process generates welding fumes, also see our welding fume extraction page.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about industrial dust collectors

What is the difference between a dust collector and a cartridge filter?

The dust collector is the complete equipment (housing, fan and cleaning system). The cartridge is the filter element inside it, which retains the dust and must be replaced periodically.

What is Pulse-Jet cleaning?

It is cleaning by compressed-air pulse, which blows the accumulated dust off the cartridge while the equipment keeps running. This extends cartridge life and reduces downtime.

Can the collector be used for welding fumes?

Yes, the FTRM line is used in welding, grinding and cutting. For welding, the capture point (arm, table, hood or torch) is as important as the filter. See the welding fume extraction page.

Do you sell replacement cartridges for other brands?

Yes. TREAL supplies replacement cartridges for TREAL and other brands of equipment, with technical support for equivalence.

How do I choose the collector size?

It depends on the airflow, the type of dust, the number of capture points and the duct network. TREAL sizes the system from your process; just talk to our engineering team.
